Daniela Campos Dominates at the Zemako 500+1 Grand Prix with Two International Victories for Portugal

Portuguese cyclist Daniela Campos delivered an exceptional performance at the prestigious Zemako 500+1 Grand Prix in Brno, Czech Republic, securing two victories in international UCI C1 competition and further establishing herself among the leading names in European women’s track cycling.

Representing the Portuguese National Team at the Brno Velodrome, Campos opened the competition with a commanding victory in the women’s points race on Tuesday, May 12th, before returning on Thursday to claim another impressive win in the women’s elimination race against a highly competitive international field.

The Zemako 500+1 Grand Prix is recognized as one of the important international track cycling events in Central Europe, attracting strong participation from national teams and elite riders from across the continent. Competing against experienced riders from Poland, Switzerland, and several other European nations, Daniela Campos demonstrated tactical maturity, race intelligence, and exceptional consistency throughout the three-day competition.

In the points race, Campos scored a total of 54 points to secure victory ahead of Poland’s Maja Tracka and Urszula Sipko. The race was marked by aggressive tactics and strong Polish representation, yet the Portuguese rider managed the race with precision and composure. According to national coach Gabriel Mendes, the race had been carefully analyzed beforehand, allowing Campos to execute the strategy exactly as planned. A decisive breakaway alongside a Polish rider proved to be a key moment in shaping the outcome of the race and ultimately allowed the Portuguese athlete to control the scoring opportunities necessary for victory.

Campos continued her strong performances throughout the week, also competing in the women’s scratch race before returning to the velodrome on Thursday for the elimination race, one of the most technically demanding disciplines in track cycling. On a 400-meter velodrome where riders face eliminations lap after lap, positioning, awareness, and tactical timing become critical factors.

Demonstrating complete control under pressure, Daniela Campos outperformed the field once again to take victory ahead of Maja Tracka in second place and Swiss rider Aline Seitz in third. National coach Gabriel Mendes praised the Portuguese rider for her concentration and tactical execution throughout the race, highlighting her ability to remain attentive to every decisive moment while avoiding difficult situations in an increasingly intense race dynamic.

The double victory in Brno represents another major step in Daniela Campos’ progression at international level and confirms her growing status as one of Portugal’s strongest female cyclists both on the road and on the track. Her performances continue to showcase the depth of Portuguese cycling talent in international competition while reinforcing her reputation for versatility, tactical awareness, and elite-level execution.

For Ventus, having one of Europe’s rising cycling athletes competing and winning at this level while wearing the brand reflects the growing international recognition of Cyprus-based performance apparel within elite cycling environments. In modern cycling, where every marginal gain matters, competition at UCI level remains the ultimate validation platform for performance-driven equipment and athlete partnerships.

Daniela Campos’ victories in Brno not only elevate her personal achievements but also contribute to the wider visibility of emerging European cycling brands and the increasing presence of Cyprus within the international cycling landscape.
