Chapter 15: Styliana Kamilari Takes P4 at the UCI Mountain Bike Continental Series in China

Elite Cycling Team rider Styliana Kamilari* delivered a strong international performance at the 2026 UCI Mountain Bike Continental Series in Zunyi, China, finishing fourth in the Women Elite XCO race while competing in the team’s custom Ventus race apparel.

There are few environments that reveal more about an athlete, their preparation and their equipment than international racing. Different terrain, unfamiliar conditions, a competitive field and the pressure of race day remove most of the variables that can be controlled during training. What remains is performance.

For Styliana Kamilari, the latest test came in Zunyi, Guizhou, China, where she lined up for the 2026 UCI Mountain Bike Continental Series – Asia Mountain Bike Series, held from 24-26 July. The trip would ultimately end with a fourth-place finish in the Women Elite XCO race, with another valuable international racing experience added to her season.

Racing the UCI Mountain Bike Continental Series in Zunyi, China

The UCI Mountain Bike Continental Series represents an important level of international mountain bike competition, providing riders with the opportunity to race beyond their domestic calendars, compete for UCI ranking points and measure their performance against athletes from different cycling nations.

The Zunyi event brought together riders from China and several international teams for a weekend of mountain bike racing in Guizhou, with the programme including Cross-country Olympic racing.

For Styliana, representing Elite Cycling Team, it was another opportunity to take her racing beyond the familiar environment of the Cypriot calendar and into an international field.

P4 in the Women Elite XCO

Styliana produced a competitive ride in the Women Elite XCO, eventually crossing the line in fourth position earning her 50 UCI points, adding a tangible reward to a performance that once again demonstrated her ability to compete beyond the domestic racing scene.

XCO racing demands repeated high-intensity efforts, technical ability, concentration and the capacity to make decisions while already operating close to physical limits. Positioning, climbing, handling and efficiency all become part of the same equation, and even small differences can ultimately determine several positions.

Equipment developed for competition

International competition also provides one of the most relevant testing grounds for performance cycling apparel. Race conditions expose apparel to movement, prolonged high-intensity effort, changing riding positions, heat management and the repeated demands placed on a garment throughout competition. Fit needs to remain stable. Fabrics need to perform under load. Nothing should distract the athlete from the job at hand.

For Ventus, seeing its equipment used in environments such as the UCI Mountain Bike Continental Series is therefore not simply brand exposure. It is part of the development process. Products designed for racing need to be tested where racing actually happens.

Athlete and equipment under the same pressure

The relationship between athlete and equipment becomes particularly visible in disciplines such as XCO, where movement is constant and the riding position changes repeatedly throughout a race.

The requirements differ significantly from sitting at a constant aerodynamic position on a smooth road. Riders move aggressively through the bike, transition between seated climbing and out-of-saddle efforts, negotiate technical sections and repeatedly accelerate under fatigue. Apparel therefore has to work with the athlete rather than simply look fast.

Another race in the books

For Styliana Kamilari, Zunyi ends with P4 in the Women Elite XCO, 50 UCI points and another international race added to her experience. For Elite Cycling, it represents another strong performance outside Cyprus.

And for Ventus, it provides another opportunity to observe its performance apparel doing exactly what it was developed to do. Race!
